North Sea flood of 1953

In 1953, The Netherlands are once again confronted with the force of the sea. In the night of 1 February of that year one of the biggest floods in the history of The Netherlands occurred: North Sea flood of 1953. Certainly not the first. And also not the largest flood to hit the country in recent centuries. But this flood did bring about changes in the relationship between the Dutch people and the sea, which resulted in a technically unique and challenging defense project: the Delta Works.
