Photo exhibition Rykel ten Kate – Closing of the breach in Colour
In 1953, Rykel ten Kate (Sexbierum 13-10-1912, Zierikzee 31-12-1992), had a chemist’s and photography business in Zierikzee. From the night of the disaster until the closing of the final breach in the dyke at Ouwerkerk he took hundreds of photographs and slides.
The final breach
The Watersnoodmuseum shows pictures taken by Ten Kate of the closure of the final breach in the dyke and all the work that preceded it. Many of these were in colour, unique at the time.
