After 71 years, the Watersnoodmuseum still receives personal items that tell new stories about the Flood of 1953. What was it like for people to experience those dreadful days? Often, personal items are donated by the relatives of those who lived through the Flood. These items are sometimes found only after the death of the family member.

Personal Memories from 1953 showcases some of the donations we have received in 2023. Each item reveals poignant or tragic stories about the immense impact the Flood had on people's lives.

Opening hours

Open daily from 10:00 to 17:00. Between November 1 and March 31, the museum and bistro Het Vijfde Caisson are closed on Mondays.
