2024 - National Commemoration of the 1953 Flood Disaster
Every year on February 1st, we gather at the Flood Museum to commemorate the victims of the North Sea flood disaster. At Gust Romijn's monument, we reflect on those fearful and sad times and remember the people who did not survive.
On February 1, 2024, it will be 71 years since the Flood Disaster devastated large parts of our country. Many families were left with grief and destruction. The disaster claimed 1,836 lives, of which 534 were on Schouwen-Duiveland.
