Documentary "Echoes of Tuvalu" Christmas Holidays 2024
On Thursday 26th and Saturday 28th December 2024, and Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th January 2025, we will show the powerful documentary Echoes of Tuvalu in the museum's cinema. Discover how the people of Tuvalu, an island group in the Pacific Ocean, are dealing with the growing challenges of climate change and rising sea levels.
With an average height of less than 3 meters above sea level, Tuvalu is extremely vulnerable. Scientists warn that by 2050, half of the capital Funafuti could be submerged during high tide. The film shows how the rising water threatens not only the homes of the people of Tuvalu but also their culture and identity. What can we learn from how they are dealing with this situation? And can this island be saved before it disappears?
The film lasts 24 minutes and is subtitled in Dutch.
