The Mystery of the Ocean

"The Mystery of the Ocean" is a theater lecture about our oceans. In collaboration with the Watersnoodmuseum, Professor Erik van Sebille will take you on a journey through the world's seas. Seventy percent of our planet is covered by ocean. Yet, we know more about Mars than the ocean floor. Why is this? Why is it so difficult to explore the oceans? How do oceanographers tackle this? And what challenges do they face?

Professor Erik van Sebille shares his knowledge of the ocean through personal stories. He recounts his journey to Antarctica, which nearly cost him his life. He discusses the impact of climate change on sea levels. And he explains why these developments cause pain for him and other climate scientists.
