Water Awareness: the understanding of the opportunities and dangers associated with water. Sometimes this awareness grows with knowledge; at other times, it arrives through different means…
Artists at Work: Watersnoodmuseum Residency
Art is one of the ways we aim to convey the story of the Watersnoodramp and the power of water. At our museum, various artists work for several months toward this goal. They draw inspiration from science, the environment, and history. The theme of their work is: living with water.
Museum Murals
In 2024, the Watersnoodmuseum will participate in Museum Murals. This project, initiated by the Mauritshuis, involves street artists collaborating with 20 museums across the Netherlands. The artists draw inspiration from the museum collections, and the final outcome? Vast murals that bring art to the places where people live, work, and play.
Outdoor theatre, film screenings, and book presentations
The Watersnoodmuseum frequently collaborates with various types of artists. We provide a stage for their stories in our outdoor theatre and caissons, focusing on themes of water, disasters, and humanity.
Curious about these poets, writers, theatre makers, dancers, filmmakers, and musicians? Keep an eye on our agenda for upcoming events.
Looking Back and Looking Ahead. The ebb and flow.
Seventy years after the Watersnoodramp, Stichting Synchronicity Productions created six large-scale beach drawings. These drawings honour the past and prepare us for the future.
The sea has long since washed these drawings away. But has the message disappeared as well?
