Every year on February 1st, we gather at the Flood Museum to remember the victims of the Flood of 1953. At the Gust Romijn monument, we reflect on those fearful and sorrowful times and the people who did not survive. 

Since 2023, July 15 has been officially recognized across the European Union as Remembrance Day for Climate Victims. In addition to honoring those who have died in floods and other climate disasters, we also reflect on how we can prevent such events in the future.

After the remembrance of the Flood Disaster, we will hold the symposium "Human Behavior During Flood Disasters." This symposium will take place in the auditorium of museum café Het Vijfde Caisson. The goal of the symposium is to bring together people of different ages and backgrounds to discuss our behavior leading up to a disaster. There is a limited number of places available. Please register in advance for the symposium.
